Sometime you just want to run...

Have you ever wanted to just disappear for a second? Have a minute to yourself, to breath, think or just...well be? That is usually how I know it is time to get a little introverted, recharge the tank. I have learned over the years that as social as I can be I also burn out after weeks of new people with tons of activity and to do's. What I realized is that sometimes I just want to get in my car and drive. No destination particularly, just me an open road and no plans. It is solitude, peace and rest that I seek.

An adventurous spirit even though I am a planner lies hidden within these bones. There is nothing better than overlooking the Rookies at the peak and just breathing. Nothing but the bluest skies and wind to keep you company. Or looking over the ledge as you hike the Grand Canyon with trails for days and mother nature as your companion. Then there's the coast line with gorgeous view after gorgeous view, crisp clean air and crashing waves to converse with. Or the snow that freezes every part of you but if you stand still as it drops can create the most beautiful peaceful silence you have ever experienced.

I may be an old soul but sometimes you just want what they advertise in the Southwest commercials to "get away." This explorational soul will get her fix someday I don't know when but I will make my trip and retreat. Too many times we get so caught up in task lists and obligations we sacrifice our own needs and health for them. Not anymore.  Sometimes the priority has to be me.

I stopped fighting my adventurously sporadic spirit a long time ago and chose to embrace it. We shall see where it takes me and the fun that will be had getting there.
